The UP Foundation Inc and the UP College of Fine Arts in a joint centennial project, will be opening the first of a series of exhibitions featuring sketches of architectural and sculptural landmarks of the seven UP campuses all over the Philippines, at the Philippine Art Center in New York at 556 Fifth Ave, New York, NY on November 19, 2007. The remembrance collection of sketches will recall for many alumni those many memorable places of their student days. The featured artists in the exhibition are well known alumni, faculty and student artists of the UP College of Fine Arts including Jess Abrera, Lenore Lim, Araceli Dans, Mar Bogalon, Neil Doloricon, Janice Young, Benjie Cabrera, Bim Bacaltos, Benjie Cabangis, Nestor Vinluan, Rey Concepcion, Alfred Capiral, Leroy New to name a few.

The exhibition in UP Diliman will be in June 2008 and an exhibition at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris is being scheduled for October 2008.

UP CFA wins two Shell Grand Prizes for Sculpture and Painting.

UP College of Fine Arts students showed their mettle at this year’s 40th Shell Art Competition with fifteen entries making the semi-finalist round. The Shell awards night at the Ayala Museum last Nov 8, 2007 proclaimed UP CFA students Gino Bueza and Michael Uy as the grand prize winners for painting and sculpture respectively. The photos below show the happy, beaming and winning faces of the talented students, with proud members of the faculty of the College: Dean Tina Colayco, former dean Nestor Vinluan, and Viscom Chair Prof. Mitzi Reyes.
