To all our Alumni, UP Officials and Colleagues, CFA Faculty and Staff, Students, Parents, Families and Friends of CFA:
A big THANK YOU to one and all, who participated and joined us at our 2008 CFA ArtFair and Homecoming last Saturday, November 15, 2008.
We had a total of 2000 registrants for the day from the time our gates opened at 9am until we closed at 4 pm. The weather cooperated immensely so everyone was able to move about comfortably and easily among the classroom exhibits, the galleries of the UP CFA Alumni Association, Illustrador Ng Kabataan (INK) and The Corredor, the Ceramic workshop, the Interaction Painting, and the busy sketching sessions.
Among our special guest artists were National Artist Ben Cabrera, well known artists Juvenal Sanso, Araceli Dans, Pitoy Moreno, Ofelia Gelvezon Tequi, Romulo Olazo, Phyllis Zaballero, Jess Abrera, Adi Baens Santos, Gig de Pio, Jonah Salvosa, Lito Carating, Ching Abad Santos and many others. National artist Napoleon Abueva arrived in the afternoon.
Our UP Diliman Chancellor, Dr. Sergio S. Cao, honored us with his presence at our opening program and the blessing of the new Ceramic Studio of CFA at Tolentino Hall as well as the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the ceramic exhibition “Sa Simula” at the Corredor Gallery.
The CFA ArtFair/ Homecoming now running in its second year, aims to showcase the works of the current talented crop of student artists and designers, side by side the many brilliant alumni who continue to inspire and lead in their chosen art and profession. It has also become a venue for fund raising by CFA and the UP CFA alumni Association for the upgrading of the facilities of CFA.
We hope everyone who came had a good time enjoying art, being with artists, catching up with old friends and classmates, and listening to the wonderful music of the UP Jazz Band.
Once again, we express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all who came and supported this event, and to all those who worked very hard to make the 2008 CFA ArtFair and Homecoming happen for everyone’s enjoyment and pleasure.
We are now preparing for the UP Centennial Lantern Parade, which will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008. We hope you don’t miss this much-awaited annual Christmas and holiday tradition in UP.
From the CFA family, we wish you the best of the holiday season and the coming new year!
Sincerely,
Tina P. Colayco
