Candlelight Ceremonies 2012
It is this time of the year that students go through some nerve wracking moments defending their thesis and taking final exams. The positive and much awaited outcome for seniors would, of course, be graduation.
This year, we have a total number of132 graduating students with degrees in Master of Fine Art (MFA), BFA Visual Communications, BFA Industrial Design and from the Certificate program.
We are proud to announce that our roster of graduates to be given honors include twelve (12) magna cum laude and (30) cum laude. The CFA Candlelight Ceremony is scheduled on Friday, April 20,2012 at 4 pm at the University Theatre.
Our special guest and speaker for our Candlelight recognition rites will be the Hon. Secretary of Tourism Jose Ramon Jimenez Jr, who is an alumnus of the College of Fine Arts,and a respected luminary in the field of advertising.
We will also be honoring the 2012 awardee of the CFA AlabngSining, Ms. Margarita Simpliciano, a well known graphic and book designer who also taught at the College of Fine Arts and contributed greatly to the curriculum revision for the Visual Communications and Industrial Design programs.
Prior to the Candlelight Ceremony, we will give recognition to the 2012 Thesis Grant Awardees at the opening of “Ani”, the annual exhibition of thesis grantees on Wednesday, April 18,2012. We would also like to commend all our thesis grantees for their outstanding accomplishments.
Congratulations to the 2012 batch of graduates of the UP College of Fine Arts, and to their parents and families. May you all lead and cast what James Joyce calls “your aesthetic radiance” , as creative young men and women – “penetrating life on life”, a radiance that will help others realize and understand life’s truths.
