We wish one and all a bright and blessed new year ahead.
After the holiday season, we are back and gearing up for many visiting artists once again, as part of the school’s program to enhance and broaden our student’s exposure to different art forms and new techniques from expert practitioners.
At the Corredor Gallery, we are happy to welcome guest Chinese artist, Chen Hui Stefanutti with her recent works of Botanical Illustrations from January 18- February 3, 2012. Ms. Stefanutti provides a fresh perspective of both science and art closely interfacing with one and the other. She lectures on her own journeys of discovering not only the beauty of her subject matter but a deeper knowledge of the various botanical species she has illustrated.
As a follow-up to last year’s residency, Master Printmaker Devraj Dakoji is back with another guest printmaker from the New York Blackburn Studio, Justin Sanz. They are accompanied once again by Ms Lenore Lim, adjunct professor at CFA, who has also made possible the visit of Messrs. Dakoji and Sanz at the UP College of Fine Arts. Their workshop will run January 31 to February 3, 2012. Ms. Lim will be conducting classes for printmaking students as an adjunct professor this January and February.
On February 1, 2012, the UP College of Fine Arts, in cooperation with the Office of Initiatives and Culture and the Arts (OICA), will open the Jose Joya, Artist, Scholar and Mentor exhibition at the Bulwagan ng Dangal , UP Main Library. Curated by Prof. Ruben Defeo with Ms. May Lyn Cruz as Assistant Curator, the exhibition will feature more than 100 works of Jose Joya during the more than 40 years he served at the UP College of Fine Arts. We thank Mrs. Josie Baldovino, the sister of National artist Jose Joya for making possible the exhibition, which was UP CFA’s major arts month activity.

The 2012 CFA ArtFair and Open Studio will be held on Saturday, February 25,2012. We invite all parents of our students, alumni and friends of CFA to see the works of our students. Following the first in a series of industry lectures by TBWA Partner Jimmy Santiago in November last year, we are proud to announce the coming lecture on February 28 of Mr. Melvin Mangada, another TBWA partner who will talk on New Media, as a viral tool in advertising and marketing.
Do come and join us for all of our exhibition openings, artfair and lectures.
